The Detroit Red Wings announced this morning that the Joe Louis Arena is adopting a new clear bag policy this season.

Beginning with the first pre-season game, sports fans will only be permitted to bring in A) clear plastic or vinyl bags no larger than 12” x 6” x 12" B) one-gallon freezer bags or C) Small clutches no larger than 9” x 6," all of which are outlined in this helpful diagram:

Lions fans are no strangers to these bag stipulations, which have been in place at Ford Field for a couple of seasons now, and still today's Red Wings' announcement kicks up age-old questions about privacy and a woman's right not to flaunt her tampons to the public.

Nevertheless, the new measure has been put in place to "provide a safer environment for the public and expedite entry for all guests attending Red Wings games," and goes into effect on Sept. 23.
