Police are investigating a home where a man's decomposing body was found buried under garbage, as first reported by WXYZ Detroit.

Hazel Park police were first called to the 140 block of Milton on Monday.

When they arrived at the home, police found "feces, trash, and a large amount of clutter in the home," according to Fox 2. "The city was called to inspect the home and said it was unlivable."

The 61 year old woman living inside the home was taken to the hospital.

While cleaning out the home on Friday, a Hazmat team found the body of Donald Smith buried under two feet of garbage.

Smith's body may have been there since December, according to the medical examiner. Police do not suspect foul play.
