Merchandise for your favorite boat, USS Detroit, now available


Everyone's favorite Navy ship now has merchandise available, from Unique Expression located in Ferndale Michigan.

Items such as shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and other various goodies are now purchasable. The merchandise is available at a convenient online store located here, a percentage of sales will go towards the Navy's Morale, Welfare and Recreation Fund to benefit active-duty soldiers. 

The USS Detroit is a freedom-class littoral combat ship, basically speedy and sneaky ships that operate close to the shore. The ship was launched on October 18th, 2014, in the Menominee River. This particular ship is the sixth ship to be named after the city of Detroit. 

President and CEO of Unique Expressions, Beverly Bantom, spoke with Detroit News about the wearables. Banton explained that the designs were inspired by the ship, and the history of Detroit. Several designs are available, including pictures of the ship, its coat of arms and its name. T-shirts start at $21.95 and sweatshirts at $34.95.
