A Detroit man wounded himself after attempting to kill a cockroach with a shoe that contained a gun.

The incident occurred at the 18700 block of Albion Street Tuesday morning, WDIV reports. The unnamed 50-year-old man, who uses a wheelchair, told police that he attempted to kill the cockroach by throwing a shoe that contained a gun. When the revolver fell out of the shoe, the gun discharged, striking the man in the foot.

Detroit police could not confirm whether the non-fatal shooting was caused by the cockroach, Freep reports. Police did confirm that the man is in stable condition following the incident.
