While it's been a wonderful experience to report on food in Detroit these last 10 years, during which so many new things have cropped up, I haven't lost my obvious affection for the classic foods of old Detroit, whether they're Boston coolers, coney dogs, square pizza, or those old cans of Vernors that would practically cauterize your nostrils when you took that first sip. That's why it was a delight to be asked by the good folks from the Zagat restaurant guides to comment on the cult-like following these dishes have among Detroit's far-flung former residents for a video segment
