Como's in Ferndale will feature a whiskey tasting room for its reopening

Few signs can light up the stretch of Woodward Ave. in Ferndale quite like Como's Restaurant.

The restaurant, which Oakland County forced to shutter last year citing food safety violations, is set to reopen in spring of 2019 under new management.

The 8,000 square-foot restaurant space at the intersection of Nine Mile Road and Woodward Ave., was purchased in June for $3.07 million by Peas & Carrots Hospitality Group. Under the leadership of chef Zack Sklar, Como's will keep its name and an Italian theme but will give a Detroit twist by specializing in Detroit-style pizza and craft beer.

For the reopening, Como's also plans to incorporate a whiskey tasting room which will feature libations from the west-Michigan small-batch distillery, Traverse City Whiskey Co.
