The long-awaited Corktown restaurant Cork & Gabel will open its doors on Dec. 19.
The eatery — at 2415 Michigan Ave. across from Roosevelt Park and near the Michigan Central Station — offers a unique concept with fare influenced by German, Italian, and Irish cuisine. That means plates like lamb bolognese with house made
rye pasta, a schnitzel BLT, slow roasted crispy pork belly with parmesan polenta and cabbage slaw, a range of brats, and waygu
carpaccio topped with pickled sweet Vidalia onions, capers, sea salt and cracked black pepper, and a light red wine vinaigrette.
As for its beer selection, Cork & Gable will offer 32 bottles of what will mostly be local beer and ciders, but will also offer nine varieties rotating on tap. It's also building up solid bourbon, whiskey, and Scotch selections.
The 4,450-square-foot restaurant will seat about 70 people.
reports that Cork & Gable will also be featured on a new Food Network show called Opening Night, which focuses on restaurants that are preparing to open.
