Starting Monday, Jan. 22, six local Meijer stores will begin distributing free passes to the ice skating rink at Campus Martius Park.

The passes will be available at the service desk at the participating Meijer stores. No purchase is necessary to nab the tickets, but there is a limit of four passes per person.

The passes can be used on weekdays from noon to 5 p.m., per a press release sent by the Downtown Detroit Partnership, which is collaborating with the grocery store to make the free passes possible. Skates are available to rent at The Rink for $4 per pair, but guests are welcome to wear their own.

Passes will be valid until March 2, with the exception of Friday, Jan. 26 due to Winter Blast activities.

The passes are available at the following Meijer locations:

14621 8 Mile Rd., Detroit, 48235
21431 Grand River Ave., Detroit, 48219
2880 Telegraph Rd., Southfield, 48034
3565 Fairlane Blvd., Allen Park, 48101
5150 Coolidge Hwy., Royal Oak, 49307
20401 Haggerty Rd., Northville, 48167

Every Thursday night from 5 to 9 p.m., The Rink also offers discounts to students with a valid college ID and downtown Detroit residents whose ID lists a 48226 zip code.
