Gretchen Whitmer reads mean tweets

Gretchen Whitmer is many things: the leading Democratic gubernatorial candidate, a former member of the Michigan House and Senate, a wife, and a mother. But she's also a woman on Twitter, which of course means she gets plenty of pure idiocy thrown her way because Twitter is truly hell.

In a video posted to her Twitter account today, Whitmer decided to take a break from the more serious issues of the campaign to read some of her mean tweets. They range from your garden variety misogyny ("Get back in the kitchen") to worries that President Donald Trump might call her "Gretchen Shitmer," to someone just calling her a "nazi, fascist, communist butthole."

It wasn't all shade, though: one Twitterer said Whiter was "so damn fine she makes me wanna be a Democrat again."

With each idiotic tweet, Whitmer responds as cool, calm, and focused as she has been on the campaign trail. You can watch the video below.

Michigan's primary election is Aug. 7.
