You can’t keep this elf on the shelf.

OK, so Will Ferrell may not be reprising his role as everyone’s favorite oversized non-elf elf, Buddy, but returning this year to the Fox Theatre is ELF: The Musical, a fresh take on Buddy’s journey from the North Pole to the Big Apple in search of his birth father, true identity, and some dang spaghetti and maple syrup. Inspired by the 2003 modern Christmas classic, ELF: The Musical is a classic in its own right with a slew of original songs, holiday hijinks, and lots and lots of sugar.

ELF:The Musical will run from Wednesday, Nov. 21 through Sunday, Nov. 25 at the Fox Theatre; 2211 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-471-3200; 313presents.com; Tickets start at $35.
