Tradition and art go hand in hand, and Detroit’s Scarab Club has kept its Annual Gold Medal Exhibition alive for 105 years. In your last opportunity to view the un-themed showcase of Scarab Club member artists, the Gold Medal Exhibition celebrates its latest run with a closing reception during which the coveted Gold Medal will be awarded to the juror selected Best of Show. This year’s juror Dominique Chastenet de Géry will be tasked with viewing over 60 works spanning all mediums from esteemed artists Linda Allen, Darrell Ellis, SLAW, Cornelis VanSpronsen, K.A. Letts, and others.

Scarab Club's 105th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition closing reception will take place at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4 at Scarab Club; 217 Farnsworth St., Detroit; 313-831-1250;; Admission is free.
