Murals in the Market will mark its fifth return to Eastern Market this September.

The annual mural festival, which has received acclaim from Smithsonian magazine as being one of the "best mural festivals in the world," will return Sept. 14 through Sept. 21, 2019.

Launched in 2015 by Detroit-based 1xRun, Murals in the Market has changed the landscape of Eastern Market by adding dozens of new, and colorful murals to Detroit's meatpacking district. The arts festival has a long list of local, national, and international alumni including commissioned murals from Greg Mike, Felipe Pantone, Ever, Leon Keer, Pat Perry, and Ouizi.

With a limited number of buildings in Eastern Market, the area's artwork changes year after year as new murals take shape on the walls of former pieces.
